Hunter

Black and white entries are becoming rare as I approach the end of the 1950's in the movie rewatch.
"The Night of the Hunter"(1955) was, however,  filmed in black and white and I don't believe it would have been anywhere near as memorable had it been in colour.
A psychopathic serial killer goes to extremes to locate a stash of stolen money, resorting to child abuse and murder in order to fulfil his relentless quest. Robert Mitchum is quite terrifying as the cruel but charismatic Reverend Harry Powell - pure evil.
A very unusual, scary little movie, full of weird camera angles, atmospheric shadows and haunting music. " The Night of the  Hunter" was very underrated when it was first released but has gained respect over the years.
