Hey, there Mr Blue

These photos were all taken this morning, within a 20 minute time frame. So why is the sky a different shade of blue in each of them?
Not to worry. I've certainly appreciated this glorious sky today, in all its hues.

Winter (spring, summer, autumn)

Bare winter trees

Spring blossom (and bee)

Bright blue summery sky.

Autumn leaves, still.

All photos taken during my walk today.
This is why I love Melbourne.

 Pretty boy.

 New bowls. $3 each. Bargain.

So much green. Must be healthy.

Autumn days

Life goes on.
This kitten is growing up way too quickly.

He's looking uncharacteristically docile here. In reality, he's a crazy ball of energy.

My souvenir London bus has befriended my souvenir New York taxi.

More holiday souvenirs - a French edition of "Babar the King" and a jar of euros, francs and pence.

What a difference a week makes.
 Autumn is now on display.
Loving the warm, sunny days and cool nights.

Frohe Ostern

Easter was a low-key affair here. Two kids were off camping for the weekend, one was at work, one was out for most of Sunday. Pretty quiet.
No shortage of chocolate though, and when C arrived after work on Sunday, she whipped up the most delicious Hot Cross Bun bread and butter pudding.

Still trying to get back into a day-to-day routine. I guess I probably won't until I'm back at work (tomorrow) and perhaps not until the school holidays end. I'm experiencing a bit of post-holiday melancholy which is probably to be expected. Hanging out washing and cleaning the kitty litter tray is quite a departure from gondola rides in Venice and dinner in the Eiffel Tower!
The residual cough from the European virus finally abated enough in the last two days to allow me to resume regular walks. I was surprised at the lack of Autumn colour, which was already abundant this time last year. I suppose the long, hot summer and still relatively mild days and nights are to blame for this. Walked for 40 minutes before I found a couple of colourful splashes.

Belatedly added the list of books I've read so far this year in the sidebar. List for 2012 can be found  here.

Endless Summer

I'm officially now over the never-ending heat and dryness, the harsh sunlight and the unrelenting brown landscapes of this Australian summer.
Autumn can't come soon enough.

These photos all taken within a ten minute walk from home.

In other matters, I'd forgotten how difficult it is to photograph a nine week old kitten. They never stop moving. The record so far is thirty photos to get a couple of decent shots which are not a blur of ginger and white fluff.
He is so very cute though and, of course, an immense time-waster.

Healthy living

Gradually slipping back into my pre-Christmas healthy eating routine, with only the occasional backslide (eg. Z made irresistible Chocolate Brownies on Sunday)
Breakfast is usually fruit with Greek yogurt, or homemade muesli.
The fruit varies from day to day, but bananas and strawberries are staples.

Gave mango another go last week, but no, still don't like it.
Lunch of choice right now, is this salad. Lettuce, avocado, semi-dried tomatoes, fetta - love all these textures together.

Back to walking almost every day. Sometimes I bring my camera, and I'm usually glad I did.
