February bits and pieces

In February.....

... we lived through a couple of weeks of constant smoke haze.

We visited the city on an exceedingly hot day....

....where we saw the "Ladies of Hotham" exhibition at Federation Square.

We attended a bridal expo and admired this little chapel, which will be featuring in many photos next year.

We are attempting to eat more healthily.

Zucchini muffins

Banana bread

But have occasionally failed spectacularly at this.

I re-hung this painting which has been in storage since the room was repainted four years ago.

Z gave me the petals from her Valentine's day roses to use as pot pourri.

Someone thought they were a tasty snack.

I had to admire the way Z set up the bathroom in preparation for a bubble bath the other night.

I saw this, which made me very happy

Summer days, drifting away

 January. Nearly over already.

Went out for dinner with my girls before going to see "Grease".

What a show it was!

Visited a possible wedding venue with the newly-engaged couple.

Celebrated Australia Day in the usual fashion.

Consumed my weight in ice-cream during the heatwaves.

Witnessed a lot of this.

Sunday the 1st of Summer

I arrived home from work on Thursday to find a beautifully decorated tree.
E and Z had braved the spiders, (possible) rodents, and other creepy crawlies in our outside storage area, and succeeded in locating the Christmas tree and decorations.
Apparently it was a terrifying experience.
I was just pleased that I wasn't the one having to find everything and decorate the tree single-handed.

It's finally summer. And it's actually hot. Let's see how long it is before we all get sick of it!

Winter (spring, summer, autumn)

Bare winter trees

Spring blossom (and bee)

Bright blue summery sky.

Autumn leaves, still.

All photos taken during my walk today.
This is why I love Melbourne.

Endless Summer

I'm officially now over the never-ending heat and dryness, the harsh sunlight and the unrelenting brown landscapes of this Australian summer.
Autumn can't come soon enough.

These photos all taken within a ten minute walk from home.

In other matters, I'd forgotten how difficult it is to photograph a nine week old kitten. They never stop moving. The record so far is thirty photos to get a couple of decent shots which are not a blur of ginger and white fluff.
He is so very cute though and, of course, an immense time-waster.
