Another Rainy Day in New York City

New York, Friday the 23rd of September, 2011

Up early to hail a taxi for E and Z who were off to Florida and "Harry Potter World" for a couple of days.
The weather was a little unpredictable but C and I decided we'd rather risk getting rained on than deal with the Subway first thing in the morning. We walked through Central Park and down Fifth Avenue to "The Metropolitan Museum of Art".
On the way, we finally saw the impressive  front of the Museum of Natural History.

The "Met" was amazing. So many magnificent, priceless works of art. It was a little overwhelming and I went crazy with the camera. The following is a very small selection of the photos I took.

View from the museum cafe.
After many enjoyable hours wandering around the Met, we headed for the Guggenheim Museum.
Such intriguing architecture.

After this, on to Bloomingdales where C did some shopping and we found yet another Magnolia Bakery.

We located Holly Golightly's apartment building ("Breakfast at Tiffanys")
We walked back towards our apartment through a very wet Central Park.
To finish off the day, we spent a cosy hour or so in the Barnes and Noble book store on Broadway.
Where we had a Celebrity Sighting! Florence Henderson (Mrs Brady) was doing a book signing.
Such a great day.

Oh wow. To see (and be able to photograph) some of those pieces of art.
While lovely, it sounds like a very full day. I bet you were v tired at the end of it.
