Nothing new to report today. One of those days at work when technology conspired against us in every way possible.
Instead, some photos of yesterday's wild weather. I would like to have captured that black, black sky and the crazily flying leaves on camera, but I was too busy running home (how my kids would have laughed if they'd seen me!)  from my bus stop in an attempt to avoid getting saturated by the monsoonal rain. Just made it inside before the worst of the storm hit.

More 1939 movies this week.
"Ninotchka" is famous for being the film in which "Greta Garbo laughs!" She is quite wonderful - really lighting up the screen.  She was nominated for the Best Actress Oscar for this and retired from film making after just one more movie.

"Dark Victory" features yet another  Best Actress Nominee. This time, Bette Davis. Her character's transformation from a flighty party girl into a calm woman serenely resigned to her fate is remarkable.
A real tear-jerker. Especially the last ten minutes. Beautifully done.

I am showing my dinosaur status. I really, really think that the women of the thirties and forties had elegance. Something which seems to have largely disappeared. (And goodness knows that I have none.)
