"Hello Sweetie"

Gillian Anderson as Dana Scully

As a TV addict from way back, I've had many crushes on favourite TV characters. For example, Remington Steele (Pierce Brosnan in the title role), David Addison (Bruce Willis) in "Moonlighting", Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) in "The X-Files", Doug Ross (George Clooney) in "ER", just to name a few.
These crushes have by no means been restricted to male characters. I've admired many inspiring and captivating female characters over the years. At the top of the list are the following lovely ladies.

Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) in "The X-Files"
Scully's "You're-talking-crap-Mulder-just-get-in-the-car" face.

Major crush for the duration of  "X-Files" and ever since. Doctor, forensic pathologist, FBI agent, super-smart and gorgeous too. Successful at both keeping Fox Mulder in line, and tackling monsters and aliens twice her size without ever tripping over in her high heels.

Juliet Burke (Elizabeth Mitchell) in "Lost"
Poor Juliet. Won me over in the very first scene she was in as she tried to pull herself together while listening to Petula Clark's "Downtown"

Another doctor, tragic life, amazing survival and self-defense skills, attempts to save the world by.....spoilers..... detonating a nuclear bomb which results in the creation of an alternate universe...sort of. "Lost" fans will understand, everyone else will be lost.
                                                                            ***

Laura Roslin (Mary McDonnell) in "Battlestar Galactica"
President Laura Roslin laying down the law to her Military Commander (and one true love) Admiral Adama.

President of the entire universe. They don't come more powerful than that. Ruthless workaholic who spends her time trying to save the remnants of humanity from the evil cylons (man-made robots gone bad who have nuked the whole world). All this while battling breast cancer.

Finally, most recent crush and reason for this post.
During the past few weeks while I was working pretty much full time, I had no energy in the evenings to do anything other than collapse in front of the TV for a couple of hours. I made the most of this time by watching seasons 4 to 7 of "Doctor Who".
What a treat! Always loved David Tennant (very crush-worthy) but Matt Smith is wonderful too in his own sweet, goofy way. Loved Donna, liked Amy and Rory (most of the time), absolutely adore River Song!

River Song annihilating a group of evil aliens in one fell swoop.

Professor River Song (Alex Kingston) latest girl-crush. Archaeologist, time traveller extraordinaire, brilliant, borderline psychopath, a whiz with any piece of scientific equipment, extremely attractive, has The Doctor wrapped around her little finger. What's not to love?
Definitely a pattern going on with these women. - all very intelligent and very powerful and all involved in complicated relationships with their leading men featuring lashings of unresolved sexual tension. Good stuff.

So looking forward to the continuation of season 7 of "Doctor Who"- in April, I believe. Please let there be more River Song and, specifically, more witty banter between River and The Doctor in future episodes!

I adore Alex Kingston as River Song. Just LOVE HER. Did you know she is exactly eight weeks younger than me?

River is amazing. Feel like watching ER now just to see more Alex Kingston.
