Therapeutic

I do love a relaxing "at home" day. After an extra-long morning walk, I pottered around the house doing a few odds and ends. Quite enjoyable.

However, my youngest girl was not having a good day. I knew her day had not begun well when I saw what she had written on the kitchen blackboard in the early hours of the morning.

She was pretty down-in-the-dumps for most of the day. Largely due to a bad case of back to school blues. So, in an effort to cheer her up, I promised her an outing to the shops, but only if she completed an English essay she had been procrastinating about. Two and a half hours later, I was presented with the three page essay. I was impressed. She had put a lot of thought into it.
So off we went for a pleasant walk in the afternoon sun to buy Z a couple of new makeup items and the soul-restoring luxurious items pictured below.

I also couldn't resist purchasing this.
 Custard. The ultimate comfort food.

Z has just enjoyed a lovely mint-fragranced bath and is feeling much better. This makes me very happy.

What a marvellous mother you are. And scented baths are soooo luxurious. And healing.
Rice pudding is my ultimate comfort dessert I think. But a good custard never goes astray.

Oh that is a plaintive little message on the blackboard... it so reminded me of my own darling teenager. He can be a master of pathos too. Adorably so, of course.
